Essay on The Heart Of Darkness And Apocalypse Now, Advertisement Analysis Essay Over the course of my senior year I have written many different genres of papers. The three that I will be assessing is first my literary analysis over the Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now, advertisement analysis, and my personal narrative. The first essay I wrote in class was my literary analysis. In this paper I was to assess the book Heart of Darkness that we read throughout class. Throughout this paper I was to write about what happened in the book following my thesis statement. Also, in this paper I was to integrate quotes used in the book to validate my points in my thesis statement. The next paper I wrote was my advertisement analysis over the brands Clarisonic and Altchek MD. Throughout this paper I wrote a detailed description of both ads and how they were similar and different. Also, in this paper I discussed affective marketing techniques that both the brands, and magazines use to help sell their product. Following the ad analysis I wrote my favorite paper which was my personal narrative. In this paper I wrote about an event that happened in my life and how it taught me many lessons that I can carry on forever. In the narrative paper I told the story of how it happened and also used effective dialogue to help provide the story with detail.With each paper that I was assigned I had to think a little bit about what I what I was going to write and make valid points that helped provide my claim for each. The biggest thing I struggled with was after I decided on what claim to write I had a hard time providing good examples for my thesis statement. On most of my papers I had trouble coming up with good strong ideas and saying them in a strong way. I felt that in most of my papers they were not as good as I intended them b. . an affective thesis statement and providing strong details to my claim. Throughout this year I found that asking specific questions about my ideas in paper helped lead me to more clarification and overall better grades on my papers. Coming in to this class at the beginning of the year I wanted to improve my writing techniques, and get a feel for what college papers would be like. Looking back I believe I made the growth I wanted to, and now understand how writing college papers works. In the future with this class I think that it would be very beneficial to the students to have the ideas of each paper clearly thought out, and provide them with as much detail as possible to help with their clarification. Looking back on this year this class was one of my favorites. I enjoyed writing about each different kind of paper, and Mrs. Hughes’s sarcasm and jokes always helped.
